How To Easily Fill Your Facebook Groups

Why Friending And Cold Messaging Potential Clients To Fill Your Groups REALLY Doesn’t Work (And What To Do INSTEAD)

Hey Girl!

A troubling trend has popped up on social media. It’s been creating a lot of waves, and not in a good way. It’s called “Hey Girl” marketing, it’s moving into the coaching realm, and it’s a problem.

Don’t know what “Hey Girl” marketing is yet? It’s a network marketing-based approach where the potential coach/seller hunts for their prey in Facebook groups, in Instagram comments, or on YouTube. Then they friend you on Facebook with no intention of really being your friend. They just want to sell you their latest “thing”.

It’s gross. It’s wrong. It leaves a bad taste in their victim’s mouths. And it gives all online marketers a bad name.

How did this happen? When did someone decide the network marketing sales piece was too hard to sell, but that they could show naive newbie entrepreneurs their “secret sauce” to creating “engaged” followers?

I don’t know the exact origin. But, what came next is catastrophic for the credibility and trustworthiness of the whole online sales community.

Everyone on social media is being inundated with tons of friend requests a month. The person immediately sends a spammy-feeling Facebook message inviting you to “join their group”. Without even attempting to figure out what you might need or want, they blindly hope you’ll buy their “thing”.

It’s frustrating for both parties. The people on the receiving end feel like they are only seen as targets. The people on the sending end are spending hours and hours of their time desperately seeking somewhat-maybe-almost ideal clients that they attempt to harass into submission.

Here’s the biggest problem with this model.

When you spend all your time prospecting cold leads who:

  • don’t actually want your thing,
  • don’t respond well to being treated as a target and not a human being, and
  • aren’t going to buy your things because of the way that they were presented,

you aren’t spending any time or effort making your paying clients genuinely happy. You know, the ones who are paying your bills? Remember them? The important people who provide referrals and help you achieve your goals and dreams?

You also aren’t spending any time nurturing your warm leads because you are so busy chasing cold leads all day every day. it’s not a sustainable business model for growth.

Here’s what does work.

Pinterest

Here’s how:

  • create 20 fantastic pins,
  • share them on 10 keyword rich boards that attract your ideal clients as if by magic, and
  • create true value-based relationships with your potential clients.

The results? Higher conversion rates and raving fans!

It’s dead simple, it doesn’t take your whole day to manage, and it gets lasting results.

The best part? Practically no one is using Pinterest in this way (YET!!!)

Less than 10% of your competition has an active, well-thought-out Pinterest strategy. And, almost none of them are using Pinterest to drive traffic to their Facebook group.

And, Pinterest has amazing traffic:

There are over 200 million monthly Pinterest users worldwide, all sharing helpful, inspiring ideas on the platform.

66% of their audience is women aged 25–54, who make the bulk of household purchases.

40% of Pinterest users have a household income of over $100k. This makes them a huge audience with strong spending power!

AND a recent survey by Pinterest found that 93% of Pinners use Pinterest to plan purchases.

(see my article on how fantastic Pinterest’s traffic is here)

So, why are you wasting all of your time and energy on a losing battle? You could be kicking back on Easy Street and serving your clients at a much higher and deeper level. When your marketing efforts are happening on autopilot, life just gets easier!

It’s time to get off the social media hamster wheel, ditch the blue behemoth, and discover the power and ease of Pinterest marketing.
